instilling self-care into life

It’s so important to become intentional about taking care of yourself. It’s so easy to worry about work responsibilities, family members and friends to the point where you forget to put yourself on the list of priorities. Truthfully, you should place yourself at the top of the list. Before you lose yourself in the hustle and bustle of life, consider these practical ways you can infuse self-care into your life on a daily basis.

  1. Fitness
When you exercise, you release endorphins. Endorphins make you feel good and refreshed. They elevate your mood. Work on finding ways to exercise every single day. You might go for a walk to clear your head on your lunch break. You could take a dip in the pool and learn how to do a flip turn. You might want to grab your helmet and ride your bike for a few miles. Even if it’s just for twenty minutes, find ways to stay active.
  2. Meditation
Meditation is helpful because it allows you to quiet your mind and be still. Whether you’re dealing with screaming children or a nagging boss, it’s good to clear the clutter out and get quiet. Do a few breathing exercises and stretch out on a yoga mat. Light a candle if that’ll help you get in the mood to meditate.
  3. Reading
Reading is fundamental for many reasons. For starters, it allows you to immerse yourself in someone else’s reality. It’s also an incredible way to learn and edify your own life. You can choose to do it for 30 minutes in the morning or 30 minutes before bedtime. If you choose to read in the morning, it’s a good idea to read chapters of a motivational or inspirational book. It’ll be a positive way to infuse encouragement into your day.
  4. Nutrition
The food you eat and the fluids you drink are the fuel you put in your own tank. If you are constantly putting junk food into your system, your body will reflect that. You’ll feel sluggish and lethargic. If you feed yourself healthy fruits and vegetables, your body will feel lighter and energized. Drink lots of water to keep your digestive system operating as it should. It’s also a good idea to take a multi-vitamin. In many cases where people feel tired, a multi-vitamin can help.
  5. Pampering
Visit the spa for a massage. Allow someone else to take care of your hair for once. Get a pedicure and enjoy the deluxe massage chairs. Allow someone else to massage your scalp with essential oils. You don’t need to do everything yourself. Let someone else take care of you and relax.
